Technology

S1 Optics applies dielectric and metallic layers to the substrate materials glass, metal and plastics.

The coating takes place by PVD-process (electron beam vaporisation, resistor vaporisation, plasma-assisted IAD processes).

We are using modern coating units with superior equipment concerning vacuum, vaporisation and plasma source, system control, optical monitor and more.

This process is characterised by high layer density and therewith a high mechanical capacity as well as an excellent climate and long-term stability of optical properties.

Cleaning

The objects to be coated are cleaned prior to the coating process in order to remove pollution caused through handling and storing. Thus, optical surface defects through particles and adhesion problems through pollution can be avoided.

Coating

We apply metallic and dielectric coatings to a variety of substrates (glass, metal, plastics) by using PVD. This produces layers which are characterised by their resistance, mechanical durability and long-term stability.

Testing

The characteristics (optical, mechanical, etc.) are measured and documented according to customer specifications. These include: transmittance, reflectivity, colour value.

We also offer mechanical characteristics like adhesion, friction, abrasion resistance, environmental test etc. according to ISO-, EN-, DIN- and MIL-standards.

Processing

We offer the processing of the optical components either before or after the coating (manufacturing of processes based on tools, chipping/mechanical processing, polishing etc.)

Inscriptions

Components can be labelled, marked or coded by laser engraving or diamond milling.

Documentation

If required, documentation can be provided for batches or individual items and sent with the delivery.

Delivery

Depending on customer requirements the finished components can be packed, delivered or prepared for further processing.
